Communication studies is defined as the process of human communication this is commonly defined as the sharing of symbols to create meaning between two or more people within a particular content and environment. This process is found in every day life in society. As humans we apply the studies and theories to communication to our everyday life in various ways. The discipline encompasses a range of topics, from face-to-face conversation to mass media outlets such as television broadcasting.Communication studies have many different areas and elements to it but the main focus behind communication studies is the message and the content. The Communication model describes how the message goes from one party toanother.

Every occupation has some element of communications in this image depicts all the different types of areas of communications such as intercultural and rhetorical. It also represents different jobs that have it in there such as journalist and television. Any major that you go into has communications and it subjects like math and science shown here. This shows that there are communications within different subjects. Communication is part of society. This piece also shows what communication studies stands for. Communication studies is about integrating the different dimensions and discipline and seeing the overlapping. This word cloud on communication studies depicts how communication is the center of everything and explains the impact that communication studies has on other areas of studies.

Writing and communicating have a lot of similarities between them. Writing is one form of communication but the thought process that goes on behind it is similar as well. Both communicating and writing focus on the rhetorical aspect. Mailloux, S. (2000). It's about how we take in information absorbed it and how we interpret it in order to be able to share with someone else and what way do we think is the best way to do so.

Writing "works" in Communication in myriad ways. At the "lowest" level of skill, employees and managers send numerous e-mails daily. This form of communication is usually informal in tone, although expected to be error free. At the "highest" level, those who work in Communication careers write reports for upper level management, clients, investors, among others. These documents contain different types of information, will be descriptive or persuasive, and have an expectation of being error free. In addition, these documents integrate design and layout principles and may be delivered on websites only. In the "middle" writing might involve press releases, correspondence to customers or job applicants. These "middle" level writing tasks are typically one page and require professionalism, tact, concise and precise wording, and again - error free. “(Dr.Coffelt)

Speech Communications is a branch of Communication Studies. Speech has more of the written and oral communication in it. In speech communication the focus is on how to take the ideas that we come up with and present them and have other understand where you are coming from. “The focus on the audience and modify the message accordingly - vocabulary usage, tone, brevity, depth of explanation. “ A lot of writing that is done is communications is reflective. Some things that are learned from this branch are how evaluate yourself and your ideas.  Consonants into commencing rhetorical thinking often translated into other areas of discipline. Speech communications uses some of the saying rhetorical techniques in formulating the concepts of what speech communications is. (Ringlee, Connie 2014)

Behind the different types of communication there is always a theory of some sort that explains why and how we communicate the way we doTheory acts as the proof to communication. Everyone has different communication styles and communication studies have different theories the go along with different areas of communication. Communication theories are either objective orinterruptiveEm Griffin, describes interpretive theories as “the linguistic work of assigning meaning or value to communicative texts; assumes that multiple meanings or truths are possible” (Griffin, p.15). He also defines objective theory as “the assumption that truth is singular and is accessible through unbiased sensory observation; committed to uncovering cause-and-effect relationships” (Griffin, p.14). Having theories makes us accountable for our actions and allow us to better understand the way we communicate ourselves as well as with other people.Dr.Vrchota (2014).When we become more aware andknowledgeable of how we use intrapersonalcommunication and the theories that go along with communication, we have the explanationThe human thought patterns, cultural context, and styles of expression are essential elements to the development of an avenue to bridge the gap.

More researchers as well as educators are starting to realize the connection between writing and communications. They are teaching their students and doing studies on that connection. Educators are teaching their students to put more of themselves and reflect on who they are at people in order to become great writers and researchers are looking at the process of creating an idea of executing it through writing. Gregory, L. (2013).

In conclusion Communication studies does not have a set definition because each discipline has its own different definition. Communication encompasses all the various definitions and perceptions of how people view communication studies. For example the math and sciences use symbols as a way to communicate their message. Broadcasting and actors focus on the content of communication. Communication studies is inclusive this is the definition of communication studies and an abstract manner. By overlapping a variety of disciplines in occupations to show how they are all interconnected. Theword cloud includes examples such as psychology and rhetorical public and biology. Communication studies is the core of which all other disciplines are based upon this image demonstrates how different disciplines use communication. Regardless of what field or discipline your interest communications is everywhere it's not always obvious but it's always present.
